Lemony Snicket

Up until now, not much has been known about Lemony Snicket, the haunted and harried narrator of the immensely popular A Series of Unfortunate Events.  Sure, Snicket was the subject of an “unauthorized” biography, but we know better than to put much faith in the veracity of unauthorized biographies.  The truth may be revealed when Snicket creator and alter ego, Daniel Handler, visits the Fair to discuss the first of the four-part series  Who Could That Be at This Hour?(All the Wrong Questions) (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, $15.99), which also happens to be Snicket’s first “authorized” autobiographical work. Raves for the new autobiography come from no less an authority than Snicket himself, who describes the story as an account “that should not have been published, in four volumes that shouldn’t be read.” Handler may have a different opinion.  Will Snicket approve of Handler’s visit?   The answer may lie in Snicket’s own words:   “Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”
