Melanie Neale presents the trials and the rewards of a life at sea in her debut, Boat Girl:  A Memoir of Youth, Love, & Fiberglass (Beathing Windward Press) Neale grew up on a 47-foot sailboat and later aboard her own boat.  But life wasn’t always smooth sailing.  She went through several relationships looking for someone who wasn’t intimidated by her stubborn independence and free-spirited lifestyle.  “An inspiring and beautifully written true story of a young woman schooled in the sea.”—Dan Wakefield.  “Short Story” column appeared bimonthly in Cruising World Magazine from 2006 to 2009.
