Anne Fountain

Anne Fountain is Professor of Spanish at San José State University and is a specialist on José Martí and the influence of the United States on his life and work.  She has written extensively on José Martí in both English and Spanish. Her book José Martí and U.S. Writers was published by the University Press of Florida in 2003. Her most recent work is Disconnect/ Desencuentro ( Cubanabooks, $15.95), a bilingual edition of short stories by Nancy Alonso, with original art by Rafael Morante, which gives readers the double pleasure of savoring the subtle humor and word play that is only fully present in the original Spanish, while accessing a sophisticated translation that illuminates Cuban culture.
