Youme Landowne’s picture book Mali Under the Night Sky: A Lao Story of Home (Cinco Puntos Press, $17.95) is the true story of a Laotian American artist whose family was forced by civil war to flee Laos when she was five. What did she carry with her? She carried her memories. And they in turn carried her across the world.  “a soul-stirring picture book about the difficulties faced by wartime refugees.”—Midwest Book Review.  Youme has travelled the world as an illustrator and graphic artist.  Her first children’s book was Selavi: A Hatian Story of Hope.
