Experts from the fields of history and ethnic studies consider the economies, cultural identities, and political struggles that have bridged and divided the experiences of Caribbean people. Join Ada Ferrer (Freedom’s Mirror: Cuba and Haiti in the Age of Revolution); Alaí Reyes-Santos (Our Caribbean Kin: Race and Nation in the Neoliberal Antilles); Matthew J. Smith (Liberty, Fraternity, Exile: Haiti and Jamaica After Emancipation); and moderator Chantalle F. Verna, Associate Professor of History and International Relations at Florida International University, as they discuss the value of thinking about the Caribbean from within, rather than from abroad.
