Character Development with Fabienne Josaphat
Tuesday, September 26, 2017 @ 7:00 pm
300 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33132 United States
Tuesdays, September 26 – October 31 (6 weeks) | 7 – 9 p.m.
This six-week course focuses on writing and developing compelling, three-dimensional characters. A good novel or short story calls for authentic, dynamic characters, and you, writer, must learn to think outside the box. We are called to create a world with characters so real, they will live with our readers forever, and even haunt them. In this course, you will practice the creation of such characters. Through a set of writing exercises, readings, discussions and workshops, you will work on crafting unsympathetic characters, anti-hero types, and three-dimensional characters, all while learning to avoid stereotypes and clichés. At the end of this course, the goal is to have created or enhanced a short story or piece of flash fiction around a central character created throughout the first four weeks. You will workshop that story for the remaining two weeks.
This class is for everyone: whether you are a budding writer, a published author, or a just a dreamer with an idea. Whether you are just starting a new story, already have one in progress, or you are simply interested in honing a new skill, this course is for you. All you need is your imagination and some writing material.
