Author(s) and Guest(s)

Zack Giallongo

Zack Giallongo’s debut graphic novel is the fantasy, Broxo (First Second Books, $16.99).  Broxo is the only surviving member of a tribe of barbarians who once occupied a now-desolate mountain. All alone in the world, Broxo spends his time on the mountain hunting and avoiding the man-eating walking dead that periodically drag themselves out of a fetid lake. Everything changes when Zora, a foreign princess, arrives on the mountain seeking Broxo's lost tribe. Can the two young warriors together defeat the living dead?

Mac Barnett

Danger Goes Berserk (Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers, $14.99) is the latest in the Brixton Brothers series in which a 12 year old sleuth goes undercover—and underwater—to tackle three cases. In addition to the Brixton series, Mac Barnett is the author of several picture books, including Guess Again!, Chloe and the Lion, and the New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn. Matthew Myers is the illustrator of many books for young readers, including Tyrannosaurus Dad by Liz Rosenberg and Clink by Kelly DiPucchio.

Chris Grabenstein

In the fourth volume of Chris Grabenstein's popular Haunted Mysteries series, The Black Heart Crypt (Yearling, $6.99), Zack must yet again do battle with malevolent spirits. And with perseverance and pluck, and the assistance of three dotty aunts, he must save his town from a 200-year-old threat. Grabenstein is the Agatha and Anthony award-winning author of The Crossroads and The Hanging Hill as well as several adult thrillers.
