The Rhythm Factory
Presented in Partnership with the Miami Children’s Museum
Friday, Nov. 16, 9:00 a.m. - Sunday, Nov. 18, 5:00 p.m., Children’s Alley (Plaza behind Building 1)
Join The Miami Children's Museum Music tent and make music, as we create our own musical instruments to wear using string and bells. We will have a percussion wall, boom whackers, slap tube octopus, a steel pan drum, and lots of other percussion instruments for you to make music.

Friday, Nov. 16
| 9:00 a.m. |
Using the drums, children will learn to follow the beat by participating in a drumming circle lead by MCM leader. Special guest leader, Jeffrey Deen on Saturday and Sunday. |
| 9:45 a.m. |
Follow the “orchestra leader” and explore rhythm, beats and notes by all the different instruments around the tent. |
| 10:30 a.m. |
MCM staff will lead you through the danceable hits of the 60's, 70's, 80’s, 90’s, and today. Learn new steps, remember old ones and get a chance to bust a move on your own. |
| 11:00 a.m. |
This is an introduction to different world music such as Balinese Gamelan, Indian Tabla, and African Djembe. |
| 12:00 p.m. |
Starting at the Music Tent, children will follow the “leaders” and use kazoos, bells and other instruments to create a musical parade around Children’s Alley. |
| 12:45 p.m. |

Using books such as Dooby Dooby Moo by Doreen Cronin, Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Seuss and Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin, we will create an interactive story time experience. Children will be able to use instruments or make sounds during specific points in the book. |

Explore rhythm with singing, swaying and lots of hooraying using popular children’s songs such as Rock Around the Clock, The Twist & the Hokie Pokie. |

Using the drums, children will learn to follow the beat by participating in a drumming circle lead by special guest leader, Jeffrey Deen. |

Join us for a special musical experience with Category 5 who will provide a performance that will make you clap your hands and move your feet. |
