La Feria del Libro de Miami presenta "Primer Borrador", una serie de eventos de escritura gratuitos e informales donde la comunidad, el oficio y la creatividad rápida se unen en salones virtuales temáticos mensuales donde los escritores socializan, comparten su trabajo y se van con grandes historias.
Theme: “In The Beginning—Putting Your First Sentence to Work.”
With the first sentence of a novel, memoir, short story or essay, the author opens a door to a new storyscape and invites you inside. In this First Draft session, we will examine the inner workings of a variety of first sentences, and engage with a series of prompts to experiment with creating our own informative or intriguing first sentences.
Pedernal, the Nonfiction Fellow of our Emerging Writer Fellowship program, earned an MFA in writing from the School of Critical Studies at CalArts and is a 2022 Lambda Literary Fellow in Nonfiction. She has published in El horizonte, Arts & Letters (Ganador del Concurso Inclasificable) y Staging Social Justice, CutBank, among numerous other publications and anthologies.
