Join us for an inspiring week writing, creating, and connecting with fellow teens – from Florida, across the nation, and around the world. This free virtual camp invites teens to explore poetry and prose through live interactive workshops, author Q&As, guided writing exercises, craft masterclasses, and personalized feedback, facilitated by published authors and well-known creatives – maybe even some of your personal faves! And we can provide a certificates of completion that students can include in creative writing portfolios and college applications.

No previous experience necessary – just bring your curiosity and your voice!

Horario

Daily writing exercise video: 5 minutes, to be viewed anytime
Daily masterclass video: 30 minutes, to be viewed before author Q&A
12:45-1:30 p.m. EST: Masterclass author Q&A (live)
1:30-2:30 p.m. EST: Writing workshop (live)
One (1) 30-minute personalized feedback session with published author to be scheduled during the week between 2:30-4 p.m. EST
Note: Additional virtual opportunities for engagement may be offered during the week.

Time Commitment:

Students are expected to commit at least 1 hour offline and 2 hours online for live sessions every day.
Students are offered one 30-minute individual mentorship meeting to receive personalized feedback on their writing, to be scheduled during the week.

FAQ:

Tech required: A computer or tablet with stable WiFi connection and a working camera and mic.
Miami Book Fair’s Speak Up summer camp is completely free, but students must apply and be accepted in order to attend. Students will be notified of acceptance in June and must confirm participation by the deadline in order to reserve their spot.
No prior creative writing or drawing experience is needed to apply.
