DR. ANTHONY D. ATWOOD, PH.D., is a distinguished historian whose writing is informed by scholastic excellence and practical experience. He is a former naval officer with sea duty and worldwide postings. He earned a B.A. from the University of Miami and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Florida International University. He is a graduate of the Army Military History Instructor Course. His first book, State of War: A History of World War II in Florida (University Press of Florida), was published in 2025 to critical acclaim and public welcome. Atwood lectures at Florida International University and is the founder of the popular Miami-Dade Military Museum.
