JOSÉ CARLOS DÍAZ, senior director of curatorial affairs and chief curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), specializes in modern and contemporary art and has extensive experience in exhibition-making, programming, and public art projects. He recently organized John Baldessari: The End of the Line. Previously, he served as deputy director for art at the Seattle Art Museum, where he curated the exhibitions Anila Quayyum Agha: Geometry of Light; Calder: In Motion, the Shirley Family Collection; y Anida Yoeu Ali: Hybrid Skin, Mythical Presence. He also organized Suchitra Mattai: she walked in reverse and found their songs from the ICA San Francisco; and Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence from MFA Boston. Before that, he was chief curator at The Andy Warhol Museum for six years. Prior to that, he served as curator of exhibitions at The Bass in Miami Beach, held curatorial positions at Tate Liverpool and the Liverpool Biennial, and interned at the Rubell Museum in Miami. Díaz earned a B.A. in art history from San Francisco State University and an MA in cultural history from the University of Liverpool.
