LOLITA STEWART-WHITE is the author of black frag/ments: poems (Hub City Press), winner of the Hub City Press inaugural BIPOC Poetry Series, selected by Alabama Poet Laureate Ashley M. Jones. The collection explores the fragmentation of the Black body, family, and community facilitated by the historically racist U.S. healthcare system. Her art pushes poetic expressiveness by experimenting with genre and form, and has appeared in Rejas de arado, Callaloo, Carreta de pradera, la African American Review, and the NAACP award-winning poetry anthology This Is the Honey (Little, Brown/Hatchette, 2024). Her poem Fugitivity was selected by Sonia Sanchez as a finalist for Boston Review’s annual poetry contest.
