Dr. Andrew Simon is a historian of the modern Middle East and media scholar at Dartmouth College. His book, Media of the Masses: Cassette Culture in Modern Egypt (Stanford University Press), received the Middle East Studies Association’s Albert Hourani Book Award. Simon’s research explores the relationship between technology, popular culture, and everyday life. He regularly contributes to podcasts and digital archives that preserve Arab cultural history.
