Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and trained as an architect, ’PEMI AGUDA is the author of One Leg on Earth: A Novel (W. W. Norton & Company) and the short story collection Ghostroots, a finalist for the 2024 National Book Awards in Fiction, the Los Angeles Times First Fiction Prize, and the PEN/Faulkner Award. She has an MFA from the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan and was Miami Book Fair’s inaugural Emerging Writer Fellowships program fiction fellow, and her short stories have won O. Henry Prizes, a Nommo Award for short story, a Henfield Prize, and the Writivism Prize.
