JACK EL-HAI is an American journalist and the author of The Nazi and the Psychiatrist: Hermann Göring, Dr. Douglas M. Kelley, and a Fatal Meeting of Minds at the End of WWII (PublicAffairs), the book on which the forthcoming Sony Pictures Classic film Nuremberg (November) is based. He is also an executive producer for the film. His writings cover history, science, medicine, and crime. His other nonfiction books include The Lobotomist: A Maverick Medical Genius and His Tragic Quest to Rid the World of Mental Illness and Face in the Mirror: A Surgeon, a Patient, and the Remarkable Story of the First Face Transplant at Mayo Clinic. Born in Los Angeles, he has contributed longform narratives and essays to many publications. He lives in Minneapolis.
