A native of Japan, KUNIKO YAMAMOTO started performing professionally in her hometown of Osaka. She first received national exposure performing on Kansai National TV in 1985. Yamamoto traveled to the United States to study with Tony Montanaro the following year, then toured with Leland Faulkner’s Light Theater, bringing ancient Japanese tales to life with shadows and magic. Since creating her solo show, she has appeared at Epcot Disney and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the National Storytelling Festival, and toured across the country. From native villages in Alaska to proscenium theaters in Florida, she has performed at more than 2,000 theaters, schools, colleges, and festivals.
