Little Haiti Cultural Complex Gallery features the work of contemporary Haitian painter Florestal Evens. This exhibition presents Evens paintings as potent visual explorations of the significance and history of Vèvè symbols. The compelling images provide insight into the African origins of Vèvè, their role as catalytic elements of the Haitian Revolution, and subsequent establishment of Haiti as the first free Black state in the New World founded by self-liberated African slaves.
