ARACELIS GIRMAY is a teacher and poet. She is the author of the poetry collections the black maria, Kingdom Animalia: Poems, and Teeth. She is the editor of So We Can Know: Writers of Color on Pregnancy, Loss, Abortion, and Birth and is on the editorial board of the African Poetry Book Fund. Recent collaborations include work with book artist Valentina Améstica and picture books with Ariana Fields and Diana Ejaita. Currently, she is working on an experiment for the stage commissioned by The Authors Guild. Her new poetry collection, Green of All Heads: Poems (BOA Editions) was published in September 2025.
