ASSER SAINT-VAL is a Haitian American, South Florida–based multidisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture, installation, design, and sometimes music. Born in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, his work engages themes of identity, spirituality, and neuromelanin in sensory, experiential compositions. He has exhibited across South Florida, New York, Washington, D.C., and also in the Caribbean – including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Grenada, and Aruba – and has participated in shows in Tennessee and other U.S. states. Recent public art commissions include Peacolli, a glass mural in Miami’s BRT corridor, and Yellow Elder, a six-foot bronze bust. In 2016, one of his installations, Awakening the Senses, was selected to represent Paris Perfume’s Pour Un Homme CARON during Miami Art Week. Saint-Val is a two-time recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Award (2006, 2011) and has received the Artist Access Grant and Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator support. He holds dual BFAs in painting and graphic design from New World School of the Arts/University of Florida. His work is in private and public collections such as the Rubell Family Collection, Mosquera Collection, and others.
