William Dunlap is an author and artist – a painter who also writes. His short stories appear in three published collections, Short Mean Fiction, Lying and Making a Living, and his most recently, Brand Disloyalty. The 10 stories presented in the latter relate to his previous collections in several ways. The serious and not-so-serious territory had been staked out for future development, and stories that began in other publications are finished here. As with his other two collections, fiction often tells a greater truth than fact. As Dunlap asserts: “Language is something of a birthright for Southerners, and would be a shame to waste it on facts alone.”
