MATT KESSLER grew up in Mobile, Alabama. He has received fellowships and residencies from MacDowell, Art Omi, Willapa Bay Air, and the Fairhope Center for the Writing Arts. His reporting has appeared in The Guardian and The Atlantic; his radio work has aired on Mississippi Public Broadcasting and Illinois Public Media. He holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Mississippi and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in literature and creative writing at the University of Southern California. The Wiregrass: A Tale of Murder and Retribution in the Deep South (Grand Central Publishing) is his first book.
