Jenna Blum’s Murder Your Darlings: A Novel is a tale of love, loss, and revenge. Novelist Simone “Sam” Vetiver is in the throes of writer’s block when she receives fan mail from William Corwyn, a hugely successful author. Amid their intense chemistry, both writers think they’ve found the one – but when fellow authors start to turn up dead, Sam must ask: Is William everything he seems? Teresa Dovalpage’s The Novel Detective: A Detective Novel follows a Cuban-born mystery writer who returns to her long-lost Havana hometown to uncover the truth behind two suspicious deaths at her former high school. Alternating between 1980 and 2020, the book blends magical realism, nostalgia, and danger in a deeply personal story inspired by the author’s childhood in Cuba and life in the United States. In Ande Pliego’s locked-room thriller The Library After Dark: A Novel, a bookseller on an after-dark tour of an infamously haunted library finds herself trapped in a place that holds her darkest secrets. On her last visit, she left a body behind. Now her tour group learns that there’s a murderer in their midst, and escaping might not be as simple as it seems. Moderating is writer and content creator Cristina Bustamante.
