Who decides which stories about Haiti reach the public, and what responsibilities come with telling them? Jacqueline Charles, Patrick Eliancy, and Pierre Gerson Joseph bring perspectives from international reporting, Haitian television, and community radio to a conversation about accuracy, representation, and public trust. Charles examines the challenges of reporting Haiti’s political developments and daily realities for audiences beyond its borders. Eliancy draws on his work at Island TV and RHINEWS to discuss the relationship between news, commentary, and Haitian audiences in South Florida. Joseph brings the perspective of WSRF and its Trait d’Union program, where news and analysis form part of an ongoing dialogue with the community. Together, they will consider how journalists verify information, respond to social media rumors and AI-generated content, and report on crisis, without allowing crisis to become Haiti’s only story. Moderated by journalist and television producer James Pierre. In Haitian Creole with English interpretation.
