In this FREE virtual creative writing workshop mini-series, teens will partner with experienced teaching artists to empower the creative writing process, from drafting to performance to publishing, to boost literacy and empower youth in Miami through community-based writing activities.
This Fall’s theme is Best of the Vault, a curated selection of fan-favorite presentations from previous Speak Up programs. Join us weekly for creative writing Throwback Thursdays after school!
The program is open to all teens (ages 13-19) and is as free of charge as it is free of homework. No previous experience necessary!

Plot Structures with Maggie Stiefvater
Maggie Stiefvater is the author of more than a dozen novels for all ages, including SHIVER, which spent over 40 weeks on the NYT Bestseller list, THE RAVEN CYCLE, one of the most starred series ever published, and THE SCORPIO RACES, winner of the Printz Honor. Her first novel for adults, THE LISTENERS, was a USA Today bestseller. She has also written novels, graphic novels, and features for Disney, DC Comics, and Hearst, among others. Her novels can be found around the world and, often, so can she.
Prior to her writing career, Maggie was a full-time artist and musician (she plays many instruments, but is most infamous for the bagpipes); her art can still be found on special editions and her music on several of the audiobooks.
Maggie lives in Virginia with her husband, seven dogs, and a very growly tuner car.
