Blending the wisdom of biblical myth and the melodrama of a telenovela, Crocodilopolis: A Novel by John Manuel Arias follows brothers Seth and Osario Oreamundo. Born into a political dynasty, they were destined for greatness. But a dark family secret and a scandalous double-crossing have changed that future. Osario is to blame – and now Seth is plotting to feed him to the crocodiles. Set in Colombia’s underground queer scene, Julián Delgado Lopera’s Pretend You’re Dead and I Carry You: A Novel is the story of Ignacio, a depressed father, and Valentina, his lonely teenage daughter who longs to discover the truth behind her mother’s drowning. When the luminous queen of Bogotá’s queer underground steps in as a mother figure for the young girl, she fears a curse may be coming for them all.
