Florence Migga

FLORENCE MIGGA had her first story published when she was a little girl; the now-defunct publication compiled short stories from children across the United States. Her entry featured a girl who gets lost in a banana field in Uganda but eventually finds her way home – thanks to a magic chicken. Migga kept writing throughout her childhood. She wrote stories about everything from constellations to time travel. She was also chosen as cub reporter for her local city newspaper and later reported for both her high school and college newspapers. In 2010, she merged her love of writing and reading when she co-founded the book review blog Book Nerds Across America. The blog remains active, and you can still find her and her friends sharing reviews of books, bookish movies, and bookish events. She loves reading all genres, but especially middle grade and young adult contemporary fiction and fantasy. She never stopped creating fiction of her own, and wrote a few more stories as an adult. The Summer Scrapbook (Carolrhoda Books) is her debut novel. And the story about the magic chicken in the Ugandan banana field? It’s been revised as The Fortune of Immy Nakatudde, her debut picture book.
