LOIS ROMANO is a longtime national political journalist who was an editor, columnist, and reporter for The Washington Post and a senior political reporter for Politico, and has covered numerous first ladies. She graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston and received a master’s in international affairs from George Washington University. Her most recent book is An Inconvenient Widow: The Torment, Trial, and Triumph of Mary Todd Lincoln (Simon & Schuster).
