Lola Haskins

LOLA HASKINS is a poet and prose writer. She is the author of 13 previous poetry collections, most recently Asylum: Improvisations on John Clare and How Small, Confronting Morning. Her prose writing includes Fifteen Florida Cemeteries: Strange Tales Unearthed and Not Feathers Yet: A Beginner’s Guide to the Poetic Life, an advice book for people interested in poetry. Over the past decade she has been concerned with environmental issues, writing an essay introduction for a book of photographs, Visions of Florida, and contributing another essay to The Wild Heart of Florida. Her poem “Prayer for the Everglades,” ends the otherwise prose work The Book of the Everglades. Haskins has served on the executive committee of Florida Defenders of the Environment since 2011.
