SHAUNTERRIA OWENS is a youth services specialist at the North Miami Public Library with more than 20 years of experience in school and public libraries. A passionate advocate for literature and literacy, she has contributed reviews to Booklist magazine and serves on several American Library Association (ALA) committees, including the Library Service to Underserved Children and Their Caregivers committee. Her leadership roles include chair of the ALA Library Support Staff Round Table and service on the Black Caucus American Library Association executive board, reflecting her commitment to amplifying under-represented voices. Outside of her library work, she is a licensed Zumbini instructor, wife, and mother of four who enjoys cross-stitching and reading.
