Valter Huge Mãe

VALTER HUGO MÃE is a Portuguese writer, editor, singer, and plastics artist. He received the José Saramago Prize in Literature in 2007 for his novel O remorso de baltazar serapião. During the prize ceremony, Saramago called the novel “a true literary tsunami.” Mãe’s work comprises fiction, short stories, poetry, children’s books, and anthologies. Besides writing, he has dedicated effort to drawing – with a first public exhibition in 2007 in Porto, Portugal – and also to music, as the singer in the band O Governo.
