In the Room: 60 Years on The Front Lines of History gathers Pulitzer Prize winning photographer David Hume Kennerly’s most iconic images into a sweeping narrative of America’s modern history, from the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy to the battlefields of Vietnam and photographing the Pentagon as it burned after the 9/11 attack to documenting Obama’s first night as president and Donald Trump’s victories. In his photo essay The Father of the Man: The Last Author Portrait Sitting with Cormac McCarthy, Beowulf Sheehan recounts a day spent in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with famed author Cormac McCarthy, an experience that changed how he sees – and loves – his own father. Throughout this memorable day, Sheehan captured many photos now published for the first time, along with the image used to announce the eventual news of McCarthy’s passing.
