RUTH BEHAR is the Newbery Honor Award-winning and Pura Belpré Award-winning author of the middle-grade novels Lucky Broken Girl, Letters from Cuba, and Across So Many Seas (Nancy Paulsen Books), along with the picture books Tía Fortuna’s New Home: A Jewish Cuban Journey and A Snowy Hanukkah for Luz (Quill Tree Books). Behar was born in Cuba and was the first Latina to receive a MacArthur Genius Grant. She is delighted to be the co-author with her son, Gabriel Frye-Behar, of Pepita Meets Bebita and Picadillo for Paulina (Norton Young Readers). She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and travels frequently to Miami and New York to visit with family and friends.
